Five Jerome Artists Minneapolis College of Art and Design 1984

All five of the artists I met with in the Minneapolis area seemed to be well aware of the currents flowing through the latest art of America and, indeed, Europe – even Steven Woodward who seems so wary of art trends and scenes, whether local, national or international. In his art and in his efforts on behalf of colleagues in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Woodward stresses self-sufficiency. The massive sculpture in his loft – a brilliant combination of nautical and domestic architecture- is like and arc designed for the preservation of independence.
